At Virginia Tech, recruitment is the term used to
describe the process of gaining membership into a sorority. It is a mutual
selection process where a potential new member has the opportunity to meet with
chapter members, ask a variety of questions, and tour living units.
Formal Recruitment is a five day process that runs over the
course of the first two weeks of spring semester. It is comprised of five
rounds which allow potential new members to become familiar with each of the
thirteen chapters at Virginia Tech. Every potential new member will attend
recruitment parties hosted by each sorority. As the rounds continue, the
parties become longer and each girl attends fewer parties until Bid Day.
