Philanthropy
At Virginia Tech, Alpha Phi dedicates their time and effort towards philanthropy. While we participate in several other philanthropies, no philanthropy is as near or dear to our heart as our own.

Throughout the year, we put on three events to raise money for the Alpha Phi foundation. The Alpha Phi Foundation empowers women to be generous givers. We raise funds for programs that improve women’s heart health and for sisters in need. Coronary heart disease is the most common form of heart disease. Heart disease it is a disorder of the blood vessels of the heart that can lead to a heart attack. One in six women die from Coronary Heart Disease (CHD) making it this country's biggest killer.

In the beginning of September, the eta-omicron chapter of Alpha Phi held their third annual Red Dress Gala and Silent Auction. Over the past three years, we have raised collectively over $18,000 at this event. At the gala, we come together as a sorority and raise awareness and funds for Women’s cardiac care health while having a great time dancing and enjoying each other’s company. In the spring, our chapter holds a two-day event to continue raising awareness and educating members of our Virginia Tech and Blacksburg community of the importance of cardiac care. Move your Phi’t occurs on the first day and is a walk-a-thon to promote a heart healthy attitude. This past year’s Move your Phi’t brought out over 300 participants running and walking and enjoying the afternoon. The following day we have our Say What Karaoke event, where boys and girls put together skits and lip-sync to songs. The past year’s Move your Phi’t and Say What Karaoke raised over $3,000.
